Fund the
next rescue.

Somewhere, a great little phone is sitting in a drawer. Your support buys it, puts it on the bench and gets it playing music again.

What your support turns into

Real hardware, tested for real. Not servers, not ads.

The next phone on the bench

Every phone we buy is a new screen size, a new chip and a new set of quirks for reTONE to handle. More phones on the bench means more phones out of the drawer.

DACs to plug in

USB DAC direct output only gets better with more DACs to try. Each new one is a fresh pairing to test, tune and add to the list.

The odd cable

OTG adapters, cables, the small things that make the difference between “not detected” and music.

Watch it happen

Follow along in the devlog. New phones and DACs show up there as they arrive on the bench, and the ones that pass end up in the tested devices list.

Chip in

reTONE stays free for everyone, with every feature, whether you chip in or not. This is simply a way to say “keep going”.

Send us a phone

You can also support reTONE with a phone you no longer use. It becomes a test phone on the bench and shows up in the devlog.

What we can take

  • Android phones and tablets in good working order that we can actually test with: they power on, charge, and have a working screen, touch, buttons and sound. The older, the better.
  • Only phones you own outright, with no remaining installment payments or contracts.
  • No cracked screens, dead touchscreens, phones that won’t charge, or water-damaged phones.
  • No phones with swollen or leaking batteries, or ones that run unusually hot. They can catch fire in transit.

How to send one

  1. Factory reset the phone and remove your Google account. Without that, it stays locked even after a reset.
  2. Take out the SIM and SD cards.
  3. If you like, add a short note: the model, when you used it, and a name we can credit you by in the devlog (a nickname is fine). We’d love to hear the story.
  4. Ship it to the address below. No need to ask first. If you’d like to check with us anyway, use the contact form on the Support page.

Ship to
Iida Piano Co., Ltd. (reTONE)
Iida Bldg. 1F, 15-18 Midoricho
Mishima, Shizuoka 411-0848
Japan

Note: Please erase your personal data before you send the phone (do a factory reset). If anything is left on it, we erase it without looking, but please don’t rely on that.

Shipping is at your cost. We use phones only for testing and never sell or give them away. If you’d like yours back, we’ll return it once we’ve finished testing — just say so in your note and include a return address (return shipping is also at your cost).

We can’t test or keep phones that don’t work, so before sending, please check that it powers on, charges, and that the screen, touch, buttons and sound all work. If a phone that doesn’t meet these conditions arrives, we’ll send it back at your cost.

Phones from abroad are welcome too. Shipping a device with a battery inside has rules that vary by country and carrier, so please follow them. Any customs fees are also at your cost.
